The Princess Wears Beulah London for Royal Charity Polo Cup

The Princess of Wales chose a dress by Beulah London for a charity polo match this afternoon.

The Princess watched her husband play at the Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup. 

The event is held at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor. Below, the Prince and Princess shortly after arriving.

Since William first took part in the cup in 2006, more than £11million has been raised for charity. The charities set benefitting today were SHOUT, Wales Air Ambulance, Centrepoint, The Passage, Mountain Rescue England & Wales, Foundling Museum, Forward Trust, East Anglia Children’s Hospices, Baby Basics, Little Village and AberNecessities.

Below, the Princess with William’s cousin Peter Phillips, and I believe Lindsay Wallace, Mr. Phillips’s girlfriend.

In this image, you see Lee Thompson (far left), the communications secretary for the Prince and Princess. Rob Dixon, the couple’s equerry, is the gentleman in the ivory jacket.

The royals spent time chatting with sponsors as well as representatives of charities benefitting from today’s fundraising.

Also at the polo today, jockey Frankie Dettori (navy blazer).

The jockey retired at the conclusion of Royal Ascot this year, notching an impressive 81 Royal Ascot wins during his career. Below, King Charles congratulates him on his Gold Cup win on day three of this year’s meet.

As Prince William stood out the first two periods, known as chukkas, Princess Kate stayed with him and some of the team to watch the opening moments of the tournaments. 

Then William — playing for U.S. Polo Assocation — took to the field for the third chukka onwards. He played defense and with the number 4 on his jersey.

The mum of three watched with interest as William galloped around the pitch in his 16th appearance at the event, having participated in every match since his first in 2006 – except for 2020 when the match was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He has a slight disadvantage to other players, as the rules state the mallet must only be used in the right hand – even if you’re left-handed like William is.

Prince William, 41, played in defence, chasing the ball with a sturdy backhand swing and scoring two goals in an intense match. For his second strike, the father-of-three hit the ball with such force he broke his mallet.

William played in a number four shirt on the winning US Polo Assn team, alongside Aiyawatt “Top” Srivaddhanaprabha, the chairman of Leicester City FC.

The Prince faced off against rival teams BP Healthcare and Standing Rock in the round-robin tournament.

When the match was concluded, the Princess assisted with the trophy presentation.

Here is the message posted on social media by Kensington Palace after the event wrapped up. Now for our look at what Kate wore. 

She was in the Beulah London Sonia Dress (£550, roughly $700 at today’s exchange rates), now available to preorder with a November shipping date. It is 100% silk crepe de chine showcasing a placed print, stand collar, fitted and pleated bodice, blouson sleeves with elastic at the cuff, and a full skirt.

Here you can see the crossover detail at the collar, the button at the cuff, and the slightly puffed shoulder.

The Princess debuted a new pair of shoes by Camilla Elphick, the Lucia Tan Slingbacks ($295). The style has a patent leather pointed toe, angular 3″ heel, and the brand’s signature crystal buckle. Thank you to Elizabeth at Kate’s Closet for this ID. 

We saw the return of the Harlow Small Satchel Bag by Mulberry, first carried in Boston last December during an engagement at Harvard.

The Princess wore her hair down.

She accessorized with the Lenique Louis Gold Spine Hoop Earrings first seen during the Harvard engagement mentioned above. UPDATE JULY 11: The earrings are available online (£360/$593); they are now made with fairmined gold.

She also brought back the Stéphanie Cuff Bracelet ($105, no longer available) by Sézane, most recently worn to Wimbledon on Monday. 

The good folks at Finlay tell us the Princess wore the brand’s Vivian Marble Sunglasses ($225). 

The frames are crafted of sustainable acetate with tinted Zeiss lenses offering full UVA/UVB protection.
