I recently partnered with Ann Taylor on an Instagram video sharing their new arrivals, and am super excited about finding this versatile plaid blazer in petites (finally!). I posted 3 ways to style it, and wanted to break down my outfit details and blog a little more on the fabrics and sizing. They’re having a big promo right now where you can get up to 40% off almost everything with code UPGRADE!
Shared 3 ways to style it in this post! This one is a winner that’s such a versatile option going into Fall. This fit is boyfriend style on me, and pairs easily with my cropped jeans and flats as well as workwear. The material is a medium weight, suiting-like fabric with a full lining. Some AT blazers run big for me, but this one is labeled a “fitted” style and fits me more normally and TTS.
I would also recommend checking out these hoop earrings, which have a modern, chunkier squared shape to them. They feel more substantial and better quality than some of AT’s usual costume jewelry.
I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled these on and they fit my waist and hips! AT pants almost always run big for me, but true to the description, these are more slim and fitted. The fabric is a cotton modal blend with comfortable stretch, including at the waistband, and the style is timeless like its namesake. I can see these paired many ways like with an oversized white shirt, pullover sweater, or boyfriend blazers.
On my 5′ tall frame, these are full length and hit below my ankles. In the photo above I folded the hems under 1 inch for a cropped look. Since the fabric has a little structure, the bottoms stay in place when folded shorter. The 00 Petite measures: 12.5″ across waist, 10.25″ rise, 25″ inseam.
If you’ve been looking for heels in a new neutral color, this is an excellent option for something deeper than beige yet softer than black. It’s the best in-stock option I’ve found aside from my pricier Sarah Flint pumps in the same color. The color looks brown on their site, but is taupe-gray in person.
Sculpting High Rise Flare Jeans (2 washes; pictured in dark)
Such a feel-good pair of jeans. If you like the style and your size is still in stock, don’t wait too long to give these a try! The small pocket detail is so cute, and the front seam works magic for an elongating effect. I’ve machine washed & dried these already and there was no shrinkage.
Compared to the Gap pair I recently shared (see on me), these have a little more stretch and fit me more closely from the waist through the thighs, and the length is a tad shorter. I also tried Abercrombie’s flare jeans, which fit well at the waist but were too bell-bottomed for my liking.
Pleated Midi Skirt (in 2 colors)
I also wanted to share a few items that I borrowed from the brand but won’t be keeping. I already own a similar skirt, but this is a lovely color for my fellow fans of jewel-toned green. Typical of AT sizing, this runs a little big at the waist and is loose on me. The 00 petite measures: 13″ across the waist.
I also borrowed this suit set to review the color and fabric – a nice option going into Fall, for those of you who dress business professional. These are the same cut and fluid crepe material as their popular cream suit from this spring. For the coordinating blazer, they have 2 options this time: a double breasted style that’s a little more modern, and a 1 button blazer (pictured above) that’s slimmer and a decently good fit on me.
As a reminder, I found these pants to run pretty big at the waist. The 00 petite measures: 13.5″ across the waist, 10″ rise, 28″ inseam.
Another look at these pants, styled for business casual with a feminine blouse. This is a nice one for adding a touch of texture and detailing to your outfits. The shirt has small shoulder ruffles and textured burgundy clip dots all over a beige, chiffonny machine-washable fabric. It drapes and tucks easily, and is double layered all around the torso for no sheerness.
Kate wide leg crop pant (in a new fabric)
Not pictured, but this EP reader favorite now comes in a nice new fabric. I like many things about the updated version, however it fits bigger than my older cotton-blend pair and is sadly too loose for me.
I tried on the black color in the new fabric, and it’s a soft and smooth double-weave fabric, a little thicker and less prone to wrinkles than the previous cotton blend version. The pockets are now on a front seam instead of the two sides. If you can get your right size in these, they’d make an excellent work to weekend pant. The 00 Petite measures: 13.5″ across waist, 10″ rise, 23.5″ inseam.
