Hello from the Cape! A+F just kicked off a sitewide sale, so I wanted to share more details on a few recommendations, including this stunning skirt set that’s already gotten rave reviews from several of you.
1. Pleated Satin Maxi Skirt + Matching Top
Beautiful option for a summer to fall special event. The cut is so flattering, and you can adjust the skirt higher or lower to show your desired amount of midsection. I loved how elegant this felt even with comfortable flat sandals.
The size xxs petite I got measures 24” at the waist, and stretches up to 25” max due to a subtly stretchy back waistband. It’s fitted at my high waist with a side zipper entry. The matching top is also fitted on me in xxs, with a partial zipper in the back and adjustable straps. Thanks to the pleated detail I went bra-free, but nippies are always a trusty choice for tops like this.

2. Essential Sunday Half-Zip + Vintage Sunday shorts
I’ve shared several AF dresses and trousers over the years but their Sunday half zip is hands down one of my most worn pieces from there. I absolutely love the slouchy relaxed fit and petite-friendly slightly cropped length. When paired simply with leggings and my belt bag for school drop off / pick up, it quickly makes a casual outfit a touch more stylish.
For the shorts, I have on xxs which I initially planned on sizing up in for more comfort, but I ended up keeping this size. The size xxs shorts measure 23.5” at the waist when lying flat, but are stretchy.
3. Lightweight Emerson Puff Sleeve Midi Dress
This cut of dress has been popular for a reason – it has pockets, a flattering silhouette that nips in at the waist, and you can go without a bra because of the pleated detail at the bust. I love my cotton Emerson dress in purple floral (see on me) and am trying on their newer lightweight fabric here.
Even though the new style is called “sheer”, the black is lined so doesn’t show through. The fabric is more lightweight and floaty than the cotton blend, and the outermost layer is a little sheer. You can see the full Emerson dress collection, including different fabrics and lengths here.
4. Clean crepe wide leg pant
I didn’t keep these since I already own and love their premium crepe pants (see them on me), which have a very similar fit except that one is pleated and the “clean” version has a flat front. Since some of you are not fans of pleats, I wanted to try on this alternative! This is the 25 short, which fits my 25” waist with 3 inch heels, so I’d say it runs notably smaller than Ann Taylor pants. The fabric is the same material in their other premium crepe pants – a nice substantial weight (not thin) and drapes fluidly. An upgrade from the original Sloane!
