Special Event Style: Floral Overlay Dress

With so many celebrations taking place in the summer months, I’m always on the lookout for unique special occasion dresses that suit a petite frame! This one is a dreamy “midaxi” length find that has petite-friendly proportions without any adjustments needed. Thank you Nordstrom for partnering on this post.

En Saison Organza Midi Dress

I have a small handful of En Saison dresses from over the years and love their feminine, romantic designs (see more styles here). This one is very lightweight, and the sheer overlay floats as you move. The fully smocked bodice and higher waistline also make this bump-friendly, and it would be a darling shower or maternity photo option for expectant mamas! This hits ankle length on me at 5′ and can also be worn with flats.

I recently also tried on the En Saison Tosca dress (see it on me) in a similar beautiful watercolor color scheme but was a little snug for me. While that one was very fitted in the bodice with minimal stretch, this one is fully stretchy in the torso and more forgiving to wear. The armholes are slightly deeper, so I’d wear with a bra that’s lower cut on both sides, my favorite adhesive nippies, or you can go easily bra-less due to the textured bodice.

Muscle Crop Top + High Waisted Shorts

Wanted to quickly also share this try-on from a recent Nordstrom order. I didn’t end up keeping this set, as the bottoms turned out to be very similar to my Madewell pull-on shorts (see on me). However I wanted to show the fit of these, which are a bit shorter than the Madewell pair and the fabric is a little more drape-y. Note that the top has a very loose fit and is wide open at the sides, best worn over a bralette.
