It’s Sézane Separates for Nottingham Mental Health Engagement

The Princess of Wales chose an ensemble anchored by Sézane separates for an engagement today at Nottingham Trent University. 

Today’s visit is part of a series of engagements the Prince and Princess of Wales are doing this week related to World Mental Health Day. Yesterday, they hosted a mental health forum for young people in Birmingham.

The Princess was at the university to learn how it and the University of Nottingham are ensuring their students have the right mental health support. 

A Kensington Palace news release notes:

Both universities encourage proactive mental health management. At Nottingham Trent University they support students by focusing on participation and helping them to develop a sense of belonging and connectivity to their community. The two universities work together to share best practice on this and many other issues, as part of their ‘Universities for Nottingham’ approach to positive collaboration.

The Princess met with students and colleagues who go above and beyond to help students with their mental health before participating in wellbeing sessions.

The mom of three held a discussion with three students about peer-to-peer mentoring and then participated in a “step in circle,” which is part of the university’s “Welcome Workshop.” It is designed to encourage students to share experiences to help them build confidence, proactively manage their well-being, and raise awareness of the wide range of support networks available to them.

Kate also learned about an initiative the university uses to measure a student’s engagement with their course. When a student stops engaging, this can be a sign that the student is struggling and it will prompt the university or tutors to reach out and help them find the right support.

Kate told students about her love of sport, saying: ‘I love to be outside’. In particular, she noted how she tried out hockey and tennis at St Andrews, where she met her future husband Prince William.

She also said she developed her photography skills through joining clubs at the university. 

The Princess said: ‘University, for me, was when I learnt to try out because there’s so much on offer.’

She then joked: ‘I’d love to be a student again!’ to which the room erupted in laughter.

The University of Nottingham wrote the following in a post on its site.

She also spoke to Jessica Nuttall, Union Development Officer at University of Nottingham’s Students’ Union, about how the university is supporting students with their mental health.

After speaking to the Princess, Jessica said: “It was so good seeing the importance of looking after your mental health being asked for from such a significant place and figure, and highlighting how important it is for students.”

Now for our look at what Kate wore.

The Princess returned to a skirted look with separates by Sézane. On top, she wore the ‘Sami’ Jumper in Natural ($145). The ribbed knit piece is a blend of 53% merino wool and 47% organic cotton, with a round neckline and a 5-button placket and buttons on the sleeve.

The style is also offered in several other colors, including black, navy blue, natural/navy stripe, and bottle green. 

The jumper was paired with the ‘Naelle’ Skirt in Natural ($175).

It is constructed of the same wool/cotton blend in a midi length with an elastic waist. The Naelle is also offered in additional colors, like black, the natural/navy stripe, purple, and green. Thanks to Gabi for both of these IDs. 

The Princess carried her Mini Holly Bag ($495) in taupe by Tusting, the British brand that manufactures all of its bags in Britain.

We saw the return of the Gianvito 105 Bisque Suede Pumps ($795), the brand’s classic point-toe style with a 4″ stiletto heel.

And the Simone Rocha Faux-Pearl Curb-Chain Earrings.
