It works because chapstick acts as a barrier to prevent moisture loss and protect lips from the drying effects of cold weather and wind, which usually results in chapping. It also offers to softens the skin to restore suppleness to the lips.

How to get Chapstick out of clothes using Enzyme based fabric cleaner

  1. Start by Scraping the Residue. The first step is to scrutinize the stain. You might encounter semi-solid wax on the surface of the fabric; then, you’ll need to scrape it as much as possible. By using a spoon or dull knife, scrape off any residue that might be stuck on. This step is key in preventing wax residue from being embedded further into the fabric.
  2. To succeed in removing the stains, then you need to pretreat the fabric.
  3. You can buy an enzyme-based fabric cleaner from the local store and then treat each stain individually. A powerful laundry detergent is also a good choice. These detergents contain enzymes that can clear out the oily residue from the stains and separate it from the fibers. Use your fingers to work the stain remover into the fabric properly.
  4. Let the stain remover sit for at least a half-hour. This is important because it will help loosen the oily stains from the fibers and make it easy for you to remove them completely.
  5. Once the stain remover has had enough time to rest, you should consider rewashing it. It’s best to use hot water. You can then get the stains out of the garment by repeating the process.

Un-Du Wax Remover

  1. Add a few drops of un-du on the stain and carefully rub over the area.
  2. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Let sit for about 30 minutes.

Dishwashing soap

  1. Scrape as much excess Chapstick off the fabric as possible, try to avoid smearing it further.
  2. Rub a small amount of hand dishwashing soap into the fabric where the stain is located.
  3. Rinse the stained area well, flushing away both the grease from the Chapstick and the dishwashing liquid solution.
  4. Pretreat the stain with a laundry prewash stain remover.
  5. Launder in the hottest water; the fabric will allow to get out the stain.

Bleaching

Bleaching also works great when fighting clothing stains. However, it is usually people’s last choice since it usually causes discoloration on the fabric, and it could potentially reduce the life span of the fabric used.
Chlorine bleach is usually suitable for white-colored fabrics, while color-safe bleach is ideal for colored garments.

  1. Mix bleach with a little water and apply it on the stain area.
  2. Put the clothes in a washing machine and wash them at a high temperature.

Tinted Chapstick stains removal

Now for the tinted chapsticks you may have to apply a slightly different approach. Because oil makes the stain stubborn and tint makes it more uncouth. Extra things you’ll need

  • Brown paper bag
  • Iron machine
  1. The beginning part is the same, grab the spoon/knife and gently scrape off the wax so that it doesn’t seep into the fabric.
  2. Paper Trick. You need to tear a brown paper bag and turn it into two sheets of paper. Place one portion of the paper on your ironing board. Put the stained fabric on top of it and place the other portion of the paper.
  3. With your iron plugged in, move it onto the paper fairly frequently until every last bit of wax comes out.

4.Once you ensure zero traces of wax residue. Take a liquid detergent or whatever cleaning material is handy. Put it onto the stained surface, rub it, deep it into the water. And air dry.

Tips to Keep in Mind on How to get Chapstick out of clothes

  • Chapstick stains are not impossible to remove; it just takes time. These often resemblance a candle wax stain.
  • It’s wise to put a clean cloth behind the area you’re working on. That way, if there is any color from the chapstick, it won’t transfer to a clean area of the item.
  • Please make sure the stain is gone after washing, but before you place it in the dryer, or you may set the stain. Repeat if necessary.
